When I first started dating my boyfriend Steve, about four years ago, his mother bought me my first gluten-free snack: a box that quickly became a cupboard staple.
It’s funny how the products you use every day can be the ones you forget to review, especially when you run a gluten-free blog.

So when a package arrived recently from Dietary Specials and TruFree containing that familiar box of treats, I couldn’t help smiling.
Dietary Specials chocolate orange crispy bars — known as “Sarah Bars” in Steve’s household — are my go-to gluten-free snack. They’ve been a regular part of my pantry for years, and it’s high time I shared what I love about them.
In Steve’s family, “Sarah Bars” has become a generic name for these bars. Despite Steve’s tendency to sneak a few from my shelf, they’re definitely my favourite treat.

The bars resemble a Chocolate Orange in cereal-bar form: crispy rice coated in orange-flavoured milk chocolate. The combination of chewy and crispy texture with a generous chocolate coating makes them both satisfying and addictive.
They’re ideal for lunchboxes, coffee breaks, or as a mid-afternoon pick-me-up. Unlike many gluten-free snack bars, these are full-sized and won’t leave you wishing for more.
Each box contains six generous bars, comparable in size to standard cereal or chocolate bars, making them good value for money.
I usually buy mine at Sainsbury’s, so check your local store. You can also find more information about Dietary Specials products through their official channels or retailers that stock their range.
If you enjoy a chocolate-orange flavour and want a reliable gluten-free snack, these crispy chocolate orange bars are a tasty, convenient choice that’s earned a permanent place in my cupboard.
