Father’s Day is coming up, and I wanted to revisit a favorite project from nearly four years ago. It’s hard to believe how long I’ve been baking and sharing treats here, and I still love every minute of it. This project is one of my earliest favorites, so I thought new readers might enjoy seeing it again. I remember feeling giddy as everything came together in my kitchen.
The sugar cookie fries were what really sold me. I adore how they turned out.
Sugar cookies shaped like fries, dusted with sugar to mimic salt—so sweet and clever.
Another part I love is the presentation. I designed printable templates for the paper tray, tissue, and french fry containers specifically for Father’s Day. Those details pull the entire look together and, at first glance, people really do get fooled.

And because so many of you asked about making these for the Fourth of July, I’ve put together new templates for a few of the most requested occasions. There’s also a blank french fry template if you want to add your own message.

If you’re planning these for the Fourth, consider going all out: cupcakes disguised as snow cones would be a fun, over-the-top dessert to top off your cookout.
